Stop Announcing Your Moves
The quieter a man gets, the more you should watch him.
Notice who talks the most about what they’re going to do. Usually the same people who never do it. They tell you the plan at dinner. The startup, the diet, the book, the big move to another country. They tell it well, too. You can see the whole thing while they talk. That’s the trap. They already got the good feeling. Everyone nodded. The plan felt real. So the actual work, the boring ugly part nobody claps for, never gets touched.
Your brain can’t tell the difference between talking about a thing and doing it. Say it out loud, collect the nods, and something in you relaxes. The hunger drops a notch. You spent the fuel on the announcement.
There’s a second cost.
